MEET THE DIRECTOR

Kimberly J. Saul, M.Ed, Cert. AVT

Kimberly is the Preschool Director at the Playful Learning Preschool at Kol Ami. Kim served for 16 years as the Statewide Preschool Director at Utah Schools for the Deaf (USD) where she worked closely with area Early Intervention (EI) and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) providers to ensure the provision of appropriate programs and services for young children with hearing loss.

As USD’s Preschool Director, Kim was responsible to ensure that quality services were provided to young children placed in USD’s preschool programs. She effectively mentored preschool teachers, therapists, and aides.

Kim taught preschool for 12 years in USD’s Salt Lake Program. As the focus of the program was on listening, language, speech, and early literacy skills development, Kim has an in-depth understanding of how language develops and how it impacts learning.

Kim is also a Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapist (Cert. AVT). This approach to teaching young children supports her belief that parents are their young child’s first and most important teacher. She welcomes parental involvement and support.

Kim earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education with a Deaf Ed Endorsement from the University of Utah. Her undergraduate studies were in Speech Pathology and Audiology at Brigham Young University.

Kim has two grown sons and one granddaughter. She loves children and is passionate about providing high quality early childhood education. She enjoys hiking and biking in the summer, snow shoeing and skiing in the winter, and traveling, whenever!
